ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN

Our Summerside office is seeking an experienced Accounting Technician to join our dynamic team, with the primary responsibilities of bookkeeping and administrative duties including:

 

  • Preparing journal entries, reconciliations and analysis of inventories, A/P and A/R

  • Reporting and Analysis – prepare internal and external reports as required

  • Payroll processing

  • Income tax preparation

  • Government remittances

  • Projects and other responsibilities as required by the position

 

The ideal candidate will offer:

 

  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting and bookkeeping principles and practices

  • Willingness to learn custom made software and proficiency using accounting programs such as Simply Accounting, QuickBooks Online, AgExpert and Microsoft Office products

  • Excellent time-management, organizational, communication and analytical skills

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently

  • Post-secondary education in the field of bookkeeping/accounting and a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience

  • Ability to do some local travel

PART-TIME ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Our Summerside office is seeking a part-time Administrative Assistant to join our dynamic team for a 10-week contract starting in late February 2021.

 

The primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing the highest level of client service, welcoming and ensuring the comfort of clients and visitors

  • Ensuring the office area is kept organized and stocked with supplies

  • Directing client inquiries by phone and in-person

  • Managing general correspondence and couriers

  • Providing administrative support such as filing, photocopying, collating, faxing

  • Performing other related duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will have basic requirements:

  • Minimum two years of proven working experience in a front office handling administrative responsibilities

  • Professional appearance

ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN (SUMMER EMPLOYMENT)

CHARTERED PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANT

Our Charlottetown office is seeking an experienced Chartered Professional Accountant to join our dynamic team, with primary responsibilities including:

 

  • Providing management of client files in delivering high-quality audit and assurance services

  • Participating in audit procedures for a range of clients with complex and specialized audit procedures

  • Identifying key drivers of performance, business trends and emerging industry developments

  • Engagement with firm quality control procedures

  • Mentoring, developing and supporting the junior accounting team

  • Maintaining relationships with clients and generating new business opportunities

 

What does an ideal candidate have to offer?

 

  • CPA designation

  • 2+ years of audit and assurance experience

  • Strong understanding of Canadian General Accepted Auditing Standards

  • A strong understanding of PSAB, IFRS, ASPE

TAX TECHNICIAN

Our Charlottetown office is seeking a permanent, full-time experienced Tax Technician to join our dynamic team for eight weeks starting March 1, 2021. The primary responsibilities of this role include:

 

  • Preparing and assisting in personal income tax returns

  • Assisting in bookkeeping as required

  • Coordinating information requests from clients

  • Prepare amendments - T1 adjustments

  • Communicate with CRA and the client regarding CRA reviews

  • Preparing supporting documents and working papers

  • Assisting senior tax staff with complex files

  • Providing clients with quality, timely and responsive services and work products

  • Other duties depending on experience

 

What does an ideal candidate have to offer?

 

  • Experience preparing personal income tax returns

  • Some bookkeeping experience considered an asset

  • Diploma in Accounting or equivalent work experience

  • A commitment to learning and using our tax technology and processes

  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills

  • Critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning

  • A strong attention to detail

  • Strong computer skills using accounting and tax specific programs/software (i.e. Tax Prep, Excel and Sage

TAX PREPARER

We are seeking an experienced Tax Preparer to join our dynamic team for eight weeks starting March 1, 2021. The primary responsibilities of this role include:

 

  • Providing outstanding client service while preparing income tax returns for individuals and small businesses

  • Reviewing financial records, such as prior tax return forms, income statements, and documentation of expenditures to determine the electronic forms required to calculate taxes owed, using all appropriate adjustments, deductions, and credits to keep clients' taxes to a minimum

  • Prepare and file amendments when necessary

  • Bookkeeping as required

  • Corresponding with clients to request additional information, answer questions, explain regulations, policies, and processes

  • Correspondence with CRA on Client matters

  • Other duties as required

 

What does an ideal candidate have to offer?

 

  • 3 – 5 years of tax specific industry experience

  • Strong knowledge of Provincial and Federal income tax laws/requirements

  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills

  • Critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning

  • A strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work well independently, within a team, and in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Excellent research skills

  • Strong computer skills using accounting and tax specific programs/software (i.e. Tax Prep, Excel and Sage)
